These ridge straps are for installing the
Jenkins 20 ounce copper ridge without having to use exposed fasteners. The straps are made of 2"X16" 20 ounce copper, folded lengthwise to make a very heavy duty 1" copper strap. They're easy to install and create a ridge installation with no exposed fasteners, nothing to caulk, no gaskets or sealants, and no maintenance ever.
To install the straps, first bend them to the shape of the ridge. Set them in place between two slates. Drill the strap with a 3/16" metal bit, then drill the underlying slate with a 3/16" masonry bit. Nail the strap into place with a
2.5" copper roofing nail.
Position the ridge copper over the ridge and make sure it lines up straight. You may need to put some pressure on it to hold it down a bit against the roof.
Snip any excess length off the strap, fold the tab up and pound it down flat against the ridge, then drill the strap with a 1/8" metal bit. Rivet the ridge to the tab with a
copper/brass rivet that has extra grip length. The result is a maintenance-free permanent and beautiful ridge covering that is strong and durable.
